Uninvited Guest

1 December 2020

Responses to the open call Uninvited Guest include a wide span of approaches and visual media. This virtual exhibit includes 60 artists from nine different countries, and fifteen U.S. cities. Artists of all backgrounds, career stages and abilities are represented in this wildly free-associative conversation. Interpretations range from the metaphorical to formally abstract, from the technological to the natural world, from the satirical to the poignant, from the ethereal to the corporeal. We see here that uninvited guests may arrive externally or internally, known or unknown. We may or may not want to welcome them in. An uninvited guest may also arrive within the very process of making. It may disrupt us for better or for worse. Ultimately, the viewer will determine where the connection lies to the theme within and between each work.
